State law requires the immunization status of all children to be screened and assessed by the first day of attendance—usually this means the first day of the school year. The screening and documentation process is established by this law, WAC 246-105,; suggested steps (workflow) to fulfill this required process have been organized graphically on this site.

The information contained within this site is intended to assist both medical & non-medical staff at schools and childcares in establishing immunization recordkeeping and documentation workflow processes, or modifying existing processes.

The content of this online toolkit is based on extensive collaboration and research that have produced best-practice information and guidance from school districts and childcares across the state to help ensure Washington state law immunization reporting requirements are met.
